Colorado Rockies vs Boston Red Sox MLB Free Picks

The Colorado Rockies and Boston Red Sox conclude their two game inter-league set tonight as Roy Oswalt and John Lackey deal from the Fenway Park mound. This evening’s finale between the Rockies and Red Sox is scheduled to get underway at 4:05pm ET. MLB Free Picks and Odds from offshore bookmaker 5Dimes are favoring the Red Sox at -177 on the moneyline ($177 wins $100); the Over/Under is set at 10 runs (Under favored at -115 odds). Colorado is drawing +167 moneyline odds to earn a series split.

Boston, after losing three out of four to the Tigers in Detroit, got back on track last night, blasting the Rockies 11-4 at Fenway Park. The victory, which featured a staggering 20 hits from the Red Sox, improved the team’s record to 46-33 and maintained its 2.5 game lead over the Yankees and Orioles in the AL East standings.

Boston’s John Lackey will look to keep the team on track tonight as he makes his 13th start of the season. Lackey, who owns a 3.03 ERA, is coming off two nice road performances in which he allowed 14 hits and four earned runs over 14 innings opposite the Orioles and Tigers.

Lackey has been outstanding at Fenway Park this season, posting a 2-1 record with a 1.04 ERA and .189 batting average against in four home starts.

The Rockies, who, at 39-39, trail the NL West leading Diamondbacks by three games, will trot out recently inked veteran Roy Oswalt this evening. Oswalt made his season and Rockies debut last Thursday and it was not a successful one.

The 12 year veteran allowed nine hits and four earned runs over five innings in a 1-5 loss to the Nationals; however, he also struck out an astounding 11 batters in the relatively short appearance.

Notable Trends: The Red Sox are 4-1 in their last five games as home favorite with a total between 9.5 and 10. The Under is 9-1 in the Rockies last 10 games as a road dog with a total between 9.5 and 10 runs. The one Over in that stretch of games came last night’s 11-4 contest.
