The Western Michigan Broncos are taking on the Ohio Bobcats in the MAC Conference Championship on Friday night. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college football odds for the game have the Broncos favored by nearly three touchdowns here to pick up the win.
College Football Odds
Western Michigan -19
Total: 59 points
Western Michigan currently sits atop the rankings of the non-power five conferences, which would earn them a New Year’s Six bowl game. Many believe Navy could find a way to surpass the Broncos because the Midshipmen still have two games remaining on the schedule. And if they beat Temple on Saturday, the college football playoff committee might just wait until the game with Army is completed to announce who is going where.
All Western can do is win this game and look convincing doing so. The Broncos have been crushing people all year and have only had one game decided by less than two touchdowns, a 22-21 win over Northwestern to open the season.
But poor Western is going to be feeling glum about all their success following the season. Head coach P.J. Fleck is never going to be a hotter coaching commodity and there are several bigger coaching jobs that are open that would pay him a lot more money than what they can come up with in Kalamazoo.
After Western beats the doors off Ohio in this game, they should be headed to a pretty impressive bowl game where they will be matched up against a team considerably more talented than they are that has played considerably better competition all season.
Western has tons of talent on the field and they can obviously score some points. Ohio likes to play a stout defense and just won a 9-3 game over Akron that was the first game in college football this season to not have a touchdown scored.
