The Northwestern Wildcats are playing host to the Western Michigan Broncos in college football action coming up on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a noon start time where it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Wildcats favored by a slim margin to pick up the win at home.

This seems to be the upset everyone has on their minds entering the opening week of the college football season. Northwestern is coming off a 10-win campaign in 2015, but they were destroyed by Tennessee in the Outback Bowl last year.
Western Michigan returns eight starters on offense from a team that scored 36 points per game last year, including a win over Middle Tennessee State 45-31 in the Bahamas Bowl. Corey Davis is a legitimate NFL wide receiver, Zach Terrell will be looing to get him the football often in this one.
The Western defense was pedestrian last year, surrendering better then 28 points per game. Northwestern is a team that struggled to put points on the board themselves last year, posting just 19.5 per contest with a young, inexperienced QB in frosh Clayton Thorson, who is expected to be better this season. Tailback Justin Jackson is one of the better unsung guys in the Big Ten, he rushed for almost 1,200 yards on the season and become just the second Northwestern back in eight years to top 1,000 yards on the ground.
With the total being relatively low and the Wildcats a slim favorite, we should have a good game here. Don’t be surprised to see some points scored, though.
