The Western Michigan Broncos travel to take on the Idaho Vandals in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPN3. Currently the odds for the game have Idaho favored by a field goal.
The road teams have won each of the last two games between these teams, covering the number as well. Western Michigan last headed to the Potato State in 2008 when they romped on the Vandals, winning 51-28. But then the Vandals found a way to get some revenge in 2010 with a 33-13 victory over the Broncos in Kalamazoo.
Idaho has had an interesting start to their season. They traveled to Florida, survived an apparent monsoon, took part in the opening kickoff of that game and then came home as the game wasn't played. Oh yeah, Idaho also got a nice check from the Gators in that as well.
Western Michigan is coming off a bye, but did play well in the season-opening loss at Purdue. A couple of mistakes kept them from knocking off the Boilermakers in that one, but this young team is improving. Idaho didn't play in week 1, but did lose last week at Louisiana-Monroe by a touchdown. They were tied late in that one but gave up the game-winning touchdown with less than half a minute left to go.
Playing in the Kibbie Dome, the Broncos are going to be inspired to win on the road. Idaho might be a much better team than they've been in the past, but Western Michigan is not a terrible team, either. The Broncos out-gained Purdue and held a 24-22 first down advantage in that game.
Hard to lay points with Idaho in this one. Western Michigan is looking for their first road win since a 31-30 victory at Massachusetts last October. That was their only win of the season, but they did go on to play well the rest of the year.
The Broncos are going to row the boat to a road win here. Western Michigan looks very much improved from last season and they're a better overall team than Idaho.
