The Texas Tech Red Raiders are hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. The college football odds for the game have the Mountaineers favored by a slim margin to pick up the win.
College Football Odds
West Virginia -1
Total: 84 points
The 84 point total is the highest in college football this weekend, which should surprise nobody. Texas Tech does not play defense, yielding almost 39 points per game to opponents. In a pair of games this season the Red Raiders have given up 68 to Arizona State and 44 last week to Kansas State in losses, not to mention the 44 they surrendered to Louisiana Tech in a victory.
West Virginia is undefeated, ranked 20th and have two straight close victories over BYU and Kansas State by a combined four points. In this game last season the Mountaineers found a way to win a 31-26 contest, West Virginia rushed for exactly 300 yards in the game and won the time of possession battle, but it wasn’t by much (roughly 30 seconds).
Texas Tech loves that quick-strike offense, but the Mountaineer defense has been stout this season and has held opponents to just 20 points per game. But this game will be different for West Virginia, which is playing in its first true road game on the season.
Patrick Mahomes III didn’t look great last weekend as he’s a little banged up, but he’s still leading the country with almost 455 yards passing per game and he’s already thrown 20 touchdowns.
Texas Tech could really turn its season around here with a win, especially with Oklahoma on deck next week. Lose both of those games and it won’t be good for Kliff Kingsbury.
