The Akron Zips are hosting the Toledo Rockets in college football action on Wednesday. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college football odds for the game have the Rockets favored by double digits to pick up the win.

Toledo is coming off a loss to Ohio the last game out, it was the first time the Rockets dropped a home game to the Bobcats since 1967. The Rockets are now 3-1 in the MAC West standings and sit behind Western Michigan, a team looking to finish as the top non-Power 5 conference.

The Rockets are strong on both sides of the football and they piled up a ton of yardage per game, averaging 544 yards per game, including almost 350 through the air. Logan Woodside might be the best quarterback in the country nobody really knows about, his 31-5 touchdown to interception ratio is outstanding and the Rockets rank Top 10 nationally in yards thrown per game, it sits eighth best.

Woodside threw for 438 yards in the team’s loss to Ohio and he pitched it for three scores in the defeat. He’s thrown for at least three touchdowns in every single game this season and the Rockets will look to exploit an Akron defense that offers up 34.2 points per game to opponents.

Akron can also score points (35.1) and they have a chance to get bowl eligible here with a win. Playing at home on national television with a quality opponent coming to town should have the Zips getting fired up and ready to go. But Toledo is just too strong on both sides of the ball.
