Georgia Southern -7
Total: 55 points
The Arkansas State Red Wolves have fallen considerably over the years, now they are 0-4 on the campaign as they enter conference play. Last year they finished 9-4, but note that the Red Wolves did start the season with a 1-3 record before winning eight straight.
But unlike last year, the Red Wolves have some losses to not the best opponents in Utah State (2-3) and Central Arkansas, an FCS team.
Georgia Southern is on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to records, the Eagles are 3-1 on the season but are coming off a tough loss to Western Michigan on the road, 49-31. The Eagles are a great rushing team with better than 1,200 yards on the ground in their four games, including averaging five yards per rush while having a ton of balance as four different guys have already rushed for better than 200 yards on the ground, which makes that offense tough to stop as several players coming out of the backfield are looking for big yardage each snap.
The Eagles should be rested, too, coming off a bye week. They aren’t a team that is going to throw the football a lot but they do bust off some big plays when the do, averaging 17 yards per completion. That offense is capable of big numbers, ranking fourth-best in the country on the ground with 317.8 yards per game. Arkansas State yields better than 239 yards on the ground per game to opponents, which ranks 117th in the country.
