The San Jose State Spartans welcome in the UNLV Rebels in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPNews. Currently the odds for the game have the Spartans favored by double digits to pick up the win.

Neither UNLV or San Jose State have gotten off to a good start this season.

The Rebels are just 1-4 overall and lost in their opener in the conference slate to San Diego State last week. Last year the Rebels were pretty solid and ended up in a bowl game, but this season they've lost four of their first five and the only win was by a single point over Northern Colorado at home.

Not good.

San Jose State also lost last week, 21-10 to Nevada. The Spartans have played a better schedule than UNLV, having lost at Auburn and Minnesota as well. Their only win on the season came over North Dakota in the first week of the season.

Last year was the first meeting between these schools dating back to the 1997 season. San Jose State picked up a 34-24 win in that one.

The Spartans could put up a big number in this one as UNLV's defense has played like one of the worst in the country this year. Opponents have averaged 601 yards of offense against the Rebels this season, including 335 on the ground.

San Jose State ran for a season-high 170 last week. Will the Spartans be able to continue running well in this one? If they can, UNLV is in for a long game.
