College Football Toledo Rockets at Kent State Golden Flashes Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Cincinnati Football: Why Bearcats Should Be on Upset Alert vs. Toledo

The Toledo Rockets hit the road in college football action on Tuesday night when they take on the Kent State Golden Flashes. The game is scheduled for a 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have the Rockets favored by two touchdowns.

Toledo laying two touchdowns on the road should not be a big surprise in this game tonight. The Rockets have propelled to a 5-3 record overall, but have an impressive 4-0 mark in MAC games to date. Kent State on the other hand, is one of the worst teams in college football. The Golden Flashes check in with a 1-7 mark overall and are 0-4 in the conference.

Toledo's three losses came to Missouri, Cincinnati and Iowa State, two of those games being on the road. This stretch in the next four games will be critical for the Rockets. They'll play on the road tonight, at Northern Illinois next week, host Bowling Green and then travel to take on Eastern Michigan in a four-game span to probably determine the MAC West champion.

Kent State hasn't been able to do anything right this season. The lone win was over Army and the Golden Flashes give up 29 points per game while only scoring two touchdowns on average per game themselves. Colin Reardon has been inconsistent at the quarterback position this season and the offense just seems to sputter out of control. Without scoring any points it's obviously impossible for them to win, which is why Kent State is 1-7.

Toledo quarterback Logan Woodside has played well in games this season and looked good in conference games when he's not turning the football over. Woodside has pitched five interceptions this season, all of which came in MAC games. The Rockets have found a way to win in spite of that and tonight should be no different.

The Rockets will want to keep the football on the ground, though. The defense gives up 34 points a game which is atrocious, especially for a team that runs the ball so much and controls the clock. Toledo piles up 248 yards on the ground per game, ranking 19th nationally.

Kareem Hunt and Terry Swanson are both averaging better than seven yards per carry for Toledo and have 14 touchdowns combined with more than 1,300 yards. The Rockets will feed them the football while still finding their playmakers on the outside as well.

Kent State is in for another beatdown at home tonight. While the national television audience is coming to town and there's a reason to rally the troops, Toledo is just that much better.

Free Pick: Toledo 44, Kent State 20
