The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers host the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Thursday Night College Football. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have Western Kentucky listed as a small favorite to pick up the win.

A pair of potential giant killers this season, both Louisiana Tech and Western Kentucky will be on the road next week against power five conference teams. That makes this game even more important, even though it’s probably a look-ahead to the Conference USA title game in a few months as well.

The Hilltoppers already went on the road against Vanderbilt last week, knocking off an SEC team while holding them to just 12 points. Leon Allen didn’t have a big day from out of the backfield, but the defense was able to do just enough to help the sputtering Hilltopper offense find a way to win. The Hilltoppers played well down the stretch, as well, but had to make a stop on the Commodores 2-point conversion that would have tied the game with right around 30 seconds left in the game.

Louisiana Tech looks solid with Florida graduate transfer Jeff Driskel, who threw four touchdowns and ran for another one against Southern in a 62-15 opening win.

Both of these teams piled up points a season ago, ranking in the Top 15 nationally. Western Kentucky’s defense kept them from being great, the Bulldog defense helped them reach nine victories. That defense should play a big role in this contest, but Western Kentucky’s offense certainly dynamic.

Between handing the ball off to Allen and QB Brandon Doughty getting the football to their talented group of receivers, the Hilltoppers should still be able to move the football in this one. If their defense can stop Louisiana Tech at all, Western Kentucky picks up a win at home.
