The Stanford Cardinal are taking on the North?Carolina Tar Heels today in the Hyundai Sun Bowl. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on CBS. The college football odds for the game have the Cardinal favored by about a field goal to pick up the win in this one.

Stanford is obviously playing without Christian McCaffrey, who will be sitting out to get ready for the NFL?Draft. There are a handful of players doing that this post season and the argument can be made for either side. In this instance, it takes the best player for Stanford off the field. North?Carolina is missing its own tailback as Elijah Hood will be sidelined because of an injury.
There’s still expected to be some solid offensive play in this one. Stanford is playing in its eighth straight bowl game and will be giving the football to Bryce Love as much as possible. Love was a nice addition to McCaffrey coming out of the Cardinal backfield, now he is expected to be the go-to guy for Stanford and get a bulk of the carries.
Mitch Trubisky leads North?Carolina, he’s expected to be a first round draft pick despite being only a junior. Trubisky threw for almost 3,500 yards this season and 28 touchdowns, compared to only four interceptions. He’s a very accurate passer (69 percent) that will look to get the football to Ryan Switzer as much as possible. Switzer caught 91 passes this season for better than 1,000 yards.
Keller Chryst is going to have to play well for Stanford. He’s thrown seven touchdowns and no picks his last four games and North?Carolina is not a team that causes a lot of takeaways, having only one interception on the season.
Stanford is going to run it often, play defense and hit enough big plays to win.
