College Football Southern Mississippi State Golden Eagles at Alabama Crimson Tide Start Time, Odds

Sugar Bowl Could Start 2014 Heisman Campaign for Alabama RB T.J. Yeldon

The Alabama Crimson Tide welcome in the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have the Crimson Tide favored by nearly 50 points.

Well, there's not really any bit of wonder on who will win this football game. The Crimson Tide are laying almost seven touchdowns and the listed total for the game is just 56 points. In other words, the Golden Eagles are not going to pose a simple threat in this one. The Crimson Tide will be able to call the score before the game kicks off and for Nick Saban's sake, they will plan to avoid any injuries in this glorified practice.

Southern Miss was drilled by Mississippi State 49-0 to open the season and survived at home last week by beating Alcorn State. It's going to be hard for them to move the football against a Crimson Tide defense that is big, physical and looking for a shutout in this one. The Golden Eagles finished with 283 yards of total offense against Mississippi State and held the football for nearly 32 minutes. But then again, Alabama probably isn't going to need a lot of time to score points in this one.

Blake Sims and Jake Coker will both play in this one and continue to battle it out for the starting spot. Sims has started the last two games but Coker has done what he needs to and continues to stay in the discussion. Look for both to play well in addition to the Crimson Tide running the football with T.J. Yeldon and Derrick Henry.

Alabama holds a 33-6-2 all-time series lead over the Golden Eagles. Overall, Southern Miss has dropped 24 of their last 26 game over the last two-plus years. That program just isn't where it needs to be yet and they are looking to continue building.

The Crimson Tide will look good on both sides of the football in this one. If Southern Miss can get some points on the board, it should be considered a success.
