College Football Saturday Vanderbilt Commodores vs Missouri Tigers Free Pick

Week 9 college football and the Vanderbilt Commodores will travel to Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri to take on the Missouri Tigers. The game has a start time of 4:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on the SEC Network. Current Vegas odds have the Tigers listed as 23.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 42.5.

Analysis:  The Vanderbilt Commodores come in with a 5-2 record overall, including an 0-2 mark on the road and an 0-4 mark in the SEC. The Commodores are off a 21-20 win over Charleston Southern, but they still can't be happy as they were 20 point favorites in the game. Vanderbilt is 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games following a SU win and they are also 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. The offense for Vanderbilt is one of the worst in the nation, as they come in ranked 125th in total yards, 116th in passing, 116th in rushing and 121st in scoring (17.6 ppg). The defense has not been good either, ranking 77th in yards allowed, 76th vs the pass, 85th vs the run and 100th in points allowed (34 ppg).

The Missouri Tigers come in off an impressive 42-13 beat down of Florida on the road. The Tigers are now 5-2 on the year, which includes a 2-2 mark at home and a 2-1 mark in the SEC. The Tigers are 25-8-1 ATS in their last 34 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and are also 12-4 ATS in their last 16 conference games. The Tigers are not a strong offensive team, as they come in ranked 118th in total yards, 111th in passing, 88th in rushing and 61st in scoring (30.7 ppg). The defense has been solid, as they rank 51st in total yards allowed, 42nd vs the pass, 57th vs the run and 34th in points allowed, giving up just 21.4 ppg on the year.

Pick: I love the Under in this game. The Missouri offense looks good on the surface as they have averaged 30.7 ppg, but they have gotten allot of break this year and in reality this has not been all that good an offense, as they are 118 th in the nation in total yards and 111 th in passing. Last week they scored 42 points on Florida, but had just 7 FDs and 119 yards in the game, plus in the game before that they had just 10 FDs and 147 totals vs Georgia. This is a bad offense, but so is the Vanderbilt offense as they have averaged just 17.6 ppg and are 125th in the nation in total offense. Missouri has allowed just 21.4 ppg on the year and the Under is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. I look for a game in the lower 30s here.
