College Football Saturday Texas A&M Aggies at Louisiana Tech Bulldogs: Start Time, Preview, Odds

A non-conference matchup in college football on Saturday will see the Texas A&M Aggies travel to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on ESPNU. Currently the odds for the game have the Aggies favored by more than a touchdown.

Prior to the season starting, not many thought this would be a matchup of Top 25 teams. Yet, six weeks into the college football season both teams find themselves inside the rankings, albeit both teams ranked in the mid-20s. The game was actually supposed to happen way back on Aug. 30, but Hurricane Isaac kept that from happening. Now both teams can get onto the field and we're expecting to see a great game.

Louisiana Tech enters the game having gone 9-0 the past two seasons against the spread when they are an underdog. They're 5-0 overall this season and 3-1 against the spread, but many think the big bad Aggies from the SEC are the play here tonight, laying more than a touchdown.

But let's be honest. If this game was actually played back in August, Louisiana Tech would have a much better chance of winning the game, even outright. But Texas A&M has been able to right the ship as of late, coming together as a squad and now they are a much better football team. Louisiana Tech has covered games against both Illinois and Virginia this season, so they are no strangers to playing on the bigger stage. Plus they are at home for this contest, where the Bulldogs have averaged 57 points per game, even against UNLV and Rice. That's still a lot of points and with their road games included, the Bulldogs rank third in the country at 53 points per game scored this season. Texas A&M will look to stop the air attack, but the Bulldogs can also get it done on the ground. They average more than 230 yards in both passing and rushing so far this season.

However, the defense for Louisiana Tech has been the big problem so far in 2012. Sure, they score 53 points per game on average, but they give up 36 points per game to the opposition, which is good for 109th in the country. Had they proven they could stop anybody from walking into the end zone in previous games this year, there's no doubt this game would be a lot closer in point spread, especially with Louisiana Tech playing at home. The Bulldogs have never started a season at 6-0.

Texas A&M will be looking to move to 11-0 all time against the Bulldogs in this series tonight. The Aggies dropped their opening game against Florida (welcome to the SEC) but they've been able to pull off victories in their last four games. They were able to hang on and beat Ole Miss last week, but did commit six turnovers in the process. That's not keeping Kevin Sumlin happy.

The turnover-prone offense will be tested today. Louisiana Tech ranks tied for second in the country at +2.2 in the turnover margin per game this season. Texas A&M, which is holding opponents to 3.2 yards per carry, is 14th in the FBS in scoring defense at 14.8 point per game.

This should be a much better game than people think. Louisiana Tech isn't exactly a household name, but they are a very good football team. The oddsmakers believe the SEC team is a big winner here on the road, but we believe that the Bulldogs will be able to keep this contest close. We're expecting a lot of points to be scored.
