College Football Saturday Navy at Penn State Start Time, Odds

College football continues on Saturday with a matchup between the Navy Midshipmen and the Penn State Nittany Lions. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 pm EST start time and it will be televised live on ABC. Currently the odds for the game have Penn State favored by a touchdown.

We've all heard everything that's been said about the Penn State football program. Quite frankly, it's still a mess. They've stumbled out of the gate as well, losing both of their contests and going just 1-1 against the number in those games. Penn State has battled transfers and just about everything else a football team could endure, but they're still here and they're still trying to move on.

What sucks for Penn State is both Ohio and Virginia were probably two of the more "winnable" games on their schedule. Now, both Ohio and Virginia will play in bowl games this season (almost a guarantee barring injury) and they were both good clubs. However, too much emotion at home in the opener caused the Nittany Lions to fall short of a veteran Ohio club. Then, last week, they weren't able to make extra points or kick field goals on the road against a Virginia team they should have beaten. However, the scoreboard always has the last laugh and Penn State came away a loser.

It's the first meeting between these two clubs since 1974 and Penn State has officially won 25 of their last 26 games against non-BCS teams. Navy fits that bill as they are an independent. Penn State probably SHOULD win this game as Navy has only played a single game, when they were blown out by Notre Dame in Ireland a few weeks back. That alone means that they have probably been looking at this game as a way to maybe fix where their season is headed.

Navy turned the ball over four times in that game against Notre Dame and it's proof that the turnover battle is huge in college football. Penn State struggled to run the ball last week, averaging less than 3 yards per carry. They're favored in this game based on what Navy looked like in their opener and not when Penn State has done so far, in my opinion.

Based on Navy being blasted in the opener and the uncommon ground in Happy Valley, I think this game is going to be a lot closer than people think. Penn State is expected to win this game and Navy is expected to have a tough season. However, I think the Midshipmen get it done on the ground in this one and if they don't turn it over four times, they might hang around and beat that number. I think Navy covers.
