The top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes play host to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and is will be televised live on the Big Ten Network. Currently the odds for the game have the defending champs as a massive favorite, to no surprise.
Ohio State trailed Virginia Tech by a field goal in their season opener, but left little doubt after a strong second half over the Hokies. The Buckeyes got great play from nearly everyone on offense and the defense knocked Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer out with a broken collarbone. There’s no telling what might have happened had the Hokies been full strength the rest of the game, but it doesn’t matter now.
Cardale Jones was an animal, tossing for 187, running for 99 yards and counting for three scores. Ezekiel Elliott had a major impact early and finished with just 11 carries, but had 42 yards over his last 10. The Buckeyes proved they have weapons all over the field as Braxton Miller came back and had an amazing game while Michael Thomas and Curtis Samuel each caught a touchdown pass as well.
Hawaii travels to the mainland in this one and it’s looking like a loss before the game even kicks on Saturday. The Rainbow Warriors had a nice win over Colorado to open the season, but playing in the Horsehoe is going to be a problem. Max Wittek tossed for three touchdowns as Norm Chow’s offense looked OK, but in this first matchup in school history with the Buckeyes, it’s tough to see Hawaii being able to come anywhere near the same offensive output.
Ohio State has won 35 of 36 home openers, the one loss coming last year to Virginia Tech. This one should be a Buckeye easy win.
