The game has a start time of 12:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas odds have the Badgers listed as 27 point favorites, while the total is set at 63.5.
Analysis: The Bowling Green Falcons started out the year with a 59-31 loss at Western Kentucky, but since then they have reeled of two straight wins, including last week’s wild 45-42 win over Indiana. The game featured 69 firstdowns, 1153 yards and the teams were separated by just 11 yards at the game of the game, so it was a very close on all the way around. The Falcons lost the TO battle in the game 2-1, but did benefit from 11 Indiana penalties for 143 yards, while the Falcons had just 4 for 42 yards. The Falcons rolled up 571 yards in the game, including 395 through the air and they are now 23rd in the nation in total offense (521 ypg), 21st in passing (321 ypg) and 29th in scoring. The defense has been bad for this team as they now rank 125th in the nation in yards allowed (569.3 ypg) and dead last nationally in pass defense (412.3 ypg), while also allowed 36 ppg, which is 107th in the land. Vs Indiana they allowed 583 yards overall, including 347 through the air.
The Wisconsin Badgers went 9-4 last year, but their season did end on a sour note with losses to Penn State and South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl. This year the badgers have major rebuilding to do on defense, but a rather easy schedule may just have them in the Big 10 title game this year. The Wisconsin Badgers come in at 1-1 on the year. After they dropped a game vs LSU in their opener, in which they led for much of the game, they bounced back the next week vs Western Illinois by a score of 37-3. The Badgers are a power running team and are ranked 39 th in the nation in rushing (217.5 ypg), but they decided to work more on their passing game vs Western Illinois and Tanner McEvoy had a very nice game, hitting 23 of 28 passes for 283 yards with 3 TDs and just 1 INT. His favorite target was Alex Erickson, who caught 10 pass for 122 yards and a TD in the game. The defense has been exceptional for the Badgers thus far, as they rank 8th in yards allowed (263.5 ypg) and 18th in points allowed (15.5 ppg).
Pick: I will look to the Over in this game. This Bowling Green defense is just horrible and the Badgers have more than enough to hang around 48 points on them here. The Falcon offense is a high tempo one and may just wear down the Badger in the second half to get enough points for this one to soar over the total. I expect this one to be about 48-21, but don’t be surprised if the Badgers hit 50 vs this bad defense of the Falcons.
