The Nevada Wolfpack welcome in the Arizona Wildcats in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network. Currently the odds for the game have the Wildcats listed as the favorites to pick up the victory on the road.
Arizona may have lost Scooby Wright for a handful of games, now the defense has to find a way to improve without him until then. Arizona looked poor defensively against UTSA and surrendered 20 second-quarter points to the RoadRunners, who piled up better than 500 yards of total offense in Tucson.
Offensively Arizona got a great game from Anu Solomon with 229 yards and four scores through the air. The Wildcats only had 163 yards on the ground and offensively they’re going to want both of those numbers to increase.
The Wildcats have won the last two meetings between the schools, Nevada covered the number in both of those games though. The Wolfpack won in their opening game of the season, beating Cal Davis (an FCS team) 31-17. Reno is treating this game as a “White Out” as Nevada is looking to pull the upset with their ground attack. In last week’s win the Wolfpack rushed for an average of almost six yards per carry and scored three times.
Nevada’s defense played better than the final score might indicate — Davis scored 14 of their 17 points in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats come in laying double digits against the Wolfpack, but that seems like a lot of points.
Reno should be fired up and ready for this one, it’s a power conference team coming to town and their defense will play a big role. Even though Arizona finds a way to win, this one will be close.
