College Football Preview: Florida vs Texas A&M Start Time, Odds and Free Pick

Texas A&M makes its SEC debut on Saturday when it hosts Florida at legendary Kyle Field. Tomorrow’s clash between the Aggies and Gators has a scheduled start time of 3:30pm ET; it will be broadcast live on ESPN. Florida vs Texas A&M Odds are siding with Florida as the Gators are presently listed as a -1 against the spread road favorite. The Over/Under in this conference tilt is set at 49.5 points.

Texas A&M was supposed to open its season at Louisiana Tech last weekend, but Hurricane Isaac forced a postponement of it match-up with the Bulldogs. Florida did take the field, though, and the result for Will Muschamp’s Gators was less than scintillating. Florida won the game, beating Bowling Green 27-14 at the Swamp, but they did not show well.

The Gators, a 28.5 point favorite over the Falcons, allowed Bowling Green to hang around most of the afternoon as they were flagged 14 times for a total of 106 yards. Thankfully for Florida fans, the team overcame its undisciplined play by rushing for 220 yards on 42 carries.

Few expect the Aggies to take the SEC by storm, but they are talented enough to hand the Gators a loss should Florida play so sloppy tomorrow. Texas A&M has a new head coach in Kevin Sumlin and a new starting quarterback in red shirt freshman Johnny Manziel, but it returns 13 starters, including four offensive lineman, and a great deal of depth (53 lettermen) from last year’s 7-6 team.

The Aggies have not exactly excelled in a home dog role in recent years, posting a 2-8 record in their last 10 games catching points at Kyle Field; however, with a new regime in charge, A&M may be able to reverse that trend.

This is not an enviable spot for Florida, playing in front of one of the more raucous crowds in college football and against a team looking to make a mark in its new conference. The Gators are the more talented group, but they will need to reduce the penalties and stay disciplined early on in order to take the ‘12th Man’ out of the game.

Florida vs Texas A&M Odds:

Florida Gators -1 (-110), Over 49.5 (-110), -115 (Moneyline)

Texas A&M Aggies +1 (-110), Under 49.5 (-110), -105 (Moneyline)
