College Football Picks: Nevada Wolf Pack vs Boise State Broncos

MWC football on Saturday night and we will see the Nevada Wolf Pack travel to the Blue Turf of Bronco Stadium to take on the Boise State Broncos. The game will be televised on CBSSN and has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern). Current Odds have Boise State listed as 22 point favorites, while the total sits at 67.

Analysis: New Nevada head coach Brian Polian has won all three of his home games but then bowing in each of his team's three road tests. The last time they were on the field they took a hard fought 51-44 OT loss at San Diego State. The Nevada offense is led by QB Cody Fajardo, who despite missing a couple of games due to injury, he is still tied for the team lead with five rushing touchdowns. In the pocket, Fajardo is completing a stellar 68.4 percent of his pass attempts for 296.2 ypg and has seven aerial scores, but he has yet to toss a single interception. Fajardo's favorite target is Brandon Wimberly who leads the team with 46 catches for 412 yards and five touchdowns. The Defense for the Wolf Pack is a problem, as they rank 117th overall, allowing 488.3 ypg on the year, while also ranking 120th in allowing teams to convert 3rd downs (50.6%).

The Boise State Broncos are the Reggie Jackson of the college football world as they come into this game having won 49 consecutive games in the month of October, including 28 straight under the watch of Petersen. Joe Southwick is the leader of this offense and comes in having completed 72.3% of his passes for 1589 yards, with 11 TD's and 5 INTs. Despite averaging less than nine yards per catch, Williams-Rhodes has made himself into a solid target for Southwick, with the same going for Matt Miller who has 37 catches for a team-best 399 yards and two TDs so far this season. Normally the Boise defense is one of the best in the nation, but that is not true this year as they come in allowing 396.2 ppg and 23.8 ppg (47th) while ranking 85th vs the pass, allowing 246.2 ypg. Last season, BSU slipped by Nevada by a score of 27-21, which means the Broncos are now ahead in the all-time series, 26-13.

Pick: I will take the points with Nevada in this one. This is usually a close series, as 5 of the last 6 have been decided by 11 points or less, and none of them have been decided by more than 20 points. The Bronco offense will go up against a weak Nevada defense, but on offense the Wolf Pack have more than enough to stay right with this team and keep the final to Under two Tds.
