The North Carolina Tar Heels open the 2015 college football season taking on the South Carolina Gamecocks. The game is scheduled for an 6:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. Currently the college football odds for the game have the Gamecocks favored to pick up the win in this neutral site game.

South Carolina gets another season with the head ball coach underway tonight. They're still an SEC team that is looking to rise to the top of the conference, but it's certainly been tough in Steve Spurrier's tenure. This year the Gamecocks believe they have a good team, though neither they or the Tar Heels are ranked to start the college football season.

Sophomore Connor Mitch has been handed the offense as the South Carolina quarterback and the youngster has a great wide receiver in Pharoh Cooper. Last year the Gamecocks underachieved to go 7-6 and Spurrier teams have been very solid the past five seasons, winning 49 combined games. The defense should be solid, but South Carolina has to have their offensive line get it figured out quickly, with only one returning starter coming back.

North Carolina brings back an established quarterback in Marquise Williams, who led the Heels to six games scoring at least 40 points last season. He led UNC in both passing (duh) and rushing last season, combining for 34 touchdowns. The Heels bring back 10 starters on offense, giving them a team loaded with experience. They should be a much better team this season and former Auburn coach Gene Chizik comes over to run the defense.

On a neutral field at Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, both teams should be represented well. This is a great early season matchup between Power 5 conference schools and the total seems very high at better than 63 points.
