College football on Saturday night and we will see the Boise State Broncos travel to Fort Collins, Colorado to take on the Colorado State Rams. The game will televised on CBSSN and has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern). Vegas odds have Boise State listed as 7 point favorites, while the total sits at 59.5.
Analysis: The Broncos went into last Friday night's meeting against BYU in Provo with a 50-game win streak in contests held during the month of October, but that all came to an end as Boise State suffered a 37-20 setback. Boise State is one of the top producing teams in the MWC and ranks 20th in the country with 495.0 ypg in total offense, including 228 ypg on the ground and 227 ypg through the air. A large part of that is due to the efforts of Ajayi who is averaging close to six yards per attempt and has scored 12 touchdowns on 158 attempts. Defensively, for a team that has been outstanding on both sides of the ball for several years, Boise State has had more than a few hiccups, permitting 414.8 ypg which is 79th in the country. Boise State has won both previous encounters with the Rams, including a 42-14 victory just last season.
As for the Rams, they've rebounded from a 1-3 start to the season by winning two straight and three of their last four in order to even their overall record at 4-4. Colorado State, the only program in the MWC that has played a neutral-site game this season, is currently third in the Mountain Division standings with a mark of 2-1. Quarterback Garrett Grayson converted 15-of-26 passes for 177 yards and a score last week vs Hawaii, for a Colorado State squad that averages 417.1 ypg and 33.4 ppg on the year. On defense things have not been so great for this team as they have allowed 447.5 ypg and 30.6 ppg on the year, while ranking 120th vs the pass, allowing 310.1 ypg.
Pick: I will go with the Under in this one. Neither team is not all that explosive on offense. Sure they can score some points, but both teams have methodical offenses that work the ball down the field and eating clock. I expect that here as we get a game played in the low 50's at best.
