A battle of Top 25 teams takes place in Week 1 of the college football season when the third-ranked Oklahoma Sooners take on the 15th-ranked Houston Cougars. The game, which will be played are NRG Stadium in Houston, is scheduled for a noon start time where it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the college football odds for the game have the Sooners favored by double digits.

Oklahoma and Houston playing on a neutral field should be a delight to see. The noon kickoff isolates it as the best game during its timeslot on Saturday and it could be an entertaining game between a pair of offenses that can score points.
The Sooners got to the College Football Playoff last season but couldn’t get past Clemson. Houston went 13-1, claiming an American Athletic Conference title and beating up on Florid State in the Peach Bowl to end the year.
The Cougars have one of the best young coaches in the country with Tom Herman, last year his team was a 3-point loss to Connecticut from potentially playing in the playoff despite being one of those smaller schools.
Playing well, even in a loss here, could help them this year. Houston is ranked 15th and a loss would certainly drop them, but the schedule is so bad the rest of the way they could easily win out and be back toward the top of the rankings at the end of the season.
This game will be a great matchup of quarterbacks; Heisman hopeful Baker Mayfield and Greg Ward are both stat machines that should lead to some points being scored in this one.
Oklahoma is great, but laying almost two touchdowns here on a neutral site, especially one very close to Houston’s campus, is a lot.
