College Football Odds Toledo Rockets vs Northern Illinois Huskies Free Pick

Tuesday night college football and the Toledo Rockets will travel to Dekalb, Illinois to take on the Northern Illinois Huskies. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Current Vegas odds have the Huskies listed as 4 point favorites, while the total is set at 60.

Analysis:  The Toledo Rockets come in with a solid 6-3 record on the year, which includes a 2-2 mark on the road. The Rockets are a perfect 5-0 within the MAC conference, with a 1 game lead over Northern Illinois. The Rockets are 8-1-1 ATS as Conference dogs of less than 7 vs a .700 or better opponent, but they are also just 1-7 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games. The Rockets are a solid offensive squad that comes in ranked 16th in total yards, 49th in passing 20th in rushing and 37th in scoring (34.4 ppg). The Defense for the rockets has not been so good as they rank 97th in yards allowed, 126th vs the pass, 14th vs the run and 99th in points allowed (32.1 ppg).

The Northern Illinois Huskies enter this game with a 7-2 record overall, including a 3-1 mark at home and a 4-1 mark within the MAC Conference. The Huskies have won three in a row, but that was vs opponents with a combined 7-21 mark on the year. NIU is just 2-5 ATS the last 7 at home in this series and just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 conference games, but hey are also 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games in November. Northern Illinois is a very solid offensive squad, ranking 36th in total offense, 100th in passing, 11th in rushing and 50th in scoring (32.0 ppg). The defense has been average at best, ranking 65th in yards allowed, 84th vs the pass, 59th vs the run and 61st in points allowed (25.7 ppg).

Pick: I have to look at the the Under here. QB Logan Woodside is hurt for the Rockets and even if he can go he will not be at full strength for them. The Rockets are a very balanced offensive squad, so they have no problem just lining up and running the ball vs the Huskies and they may have to as windy and cold conditions are expected for this game. Now for the Huskies, they are mainly a running team anyway, ranking 11th in the nation in rushing, but the problem for this offense is that they will be taking on a Toledo defense that has allowed just 113 ypg and 3.6 ypc on the ground this year. This is also a huge game as the winner get the inside track to the MAC title game and those type games are usually a bit more conservative. I look for this one in the lower 50's and maybe even in the 40s.
