The Mississippi State Bulldogs are looking to get back on track when they host the South Carolina Gamecocks in SEC College Football action. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college football betting odds for the game have the Bulldogs favored by a touchdown at home.

Mississippi State somehow lost last week to South Alabama, one of the more head-scratching games of the college football weekend. Now the oddsmakers have them as a near double-digit favorite over South Carolina in this matchup. 

The Gamecocks have already won on the road in conference play this season, beating Vandy 13-10. Neither team was very good offensively in that game but South Carolina was determined enough to find a way to win. Even so, it’s tough to back a team on the road that had just 300 yards of total offense on the road. The Gamecock defense, though, was good enough to hold Vanderbilt to just one offensive touchdown.

The post-Dak Prescott era has not gotten off to a good start for Dan Mullen and the Bulldogs, but they should have just enough offense in this one. The total seems a bit high for a couple of teams that really didn’t play well offensively, this one looks like it could be close.
