Friday night college football and we will see the San Diego State Aztecs take on the Fresno State Bulldogs at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno, California. The game has a start time of 10:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBSSN. Current Vegas odds have the Bulldogs listed as 1 point favorites, while the total is set at 57.5.  

Analysis:  The San Diego State Aztecs started the year at 1-2, but then they got a break in their schedule with a game vs the UNLV Rebels, in which they won 34-17 to even their record at 2-2. The Aztecs are 3-1-2 ATS the last 6 games in this series. In the win over the Rebels, the Aztecs outgained them by just 11 yards in the contest. The star of the game was Donnel Pumphrey, who ran for 167 yards and 4 TDs and now has rushed for 467 yards and 9 TDs on the year. Overall the Aztecs are a below average offensive team, as they come in 80th in total offense (397.2 ypg) and 85th in scoring (26.5 ppg), while on defense they are 62nd in yards allowed (383.2 ypg), 101st vs the pass (268 ypg) and 40th in points allowed (20.8 ppg).

The Fresno State Bulldogs have struggled in the early going with a 2-3 record, but they do come in having won their last 2 games in a row, They were vs FCS foe Southern and last week on the road vs New Mexico in a hard fought 35-24 win. A trend of note here is the fact that Fresno State is 1-10 ATS as home favorites of 31 or less vs an opponent that is seeking revenge. Brian Burrell is no Derek Carr, but has been decent throwing for 902 yards with 8 TDs and 3 INTs so far, while leading a solid ground attack is Marteze Walker, who has run for 457 yards and 3 TDs thus far. The offense is not as explosive as last year, as they come in ranked 46th in total offense (457.6 ypg), 50th in passing (262 ypg) and 69th in this scoring (30 ppg). That’s 13 ppg less then they averaged last year. The defense has been a huge problem for this team as they come in ranked 122nd overall (509.2 ypg) and 122 nd in points allowed (41.2 ppg).  

Pick: Gonna look to Fresno State in this one. The Bulldogs had a rough start to their year, but their schedule was also very brutal and that can only help them as they start to take on lesser competition. The money has come in heavily on the Bulldogs and I will follow it as they get a hard fought 7+ point win here.
