Florida State -6
Total: 59 points
Florida State will look to avoid becoming the third Top 5 team to fall in the opening weekend after both LSU and Oklahoma were taken out. Ole Miss is ranked 11th coming into tonight’s game, which is featured on Labor Day as one of the best games of the weekend.
The Seminoles are led by Dalvin Cook, a potential Heisman candidate this season. Last year he piled up almost 1700 yards on the ground and he had 20 combined touchdowns. Florida State will certainly be able to run the football behind a solid offensive line as 10 starters from last year return. Florida State will also look to put the ball in the air as well, though it appears they are going with freshman Deondre Francois as the starting QB over Sean Maguire.
Ole Miss has no questions at quarterback with Chad Kelly, he threw for over 4,000 yards last season and completed 31 touchdowns. Ole Miss has to replace its top two receivers but has en excellent tight end in Evan Engram. Their problem could be on the offensive line, where there will be three brand new starters.
Athleticism should be on display tonight, but Florida State looks like the better team. It worked out of them the last time they started a freshman at quarterback, but the Ole Miss defense will look to cause some problems. If Francois can make good decisions with the football and avoid the turnovers, Florida State will prevail in this one.
