College Football Odds Connecticut Huskies vs South Florida Bulls Free Pick

College Football Week 4 and we will see the Connecticut Huskies Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida to take on the South Florida Bulls. The game has a start time of 8:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas odds have the Bulls listed as 2 point favorites, while the total is set at 44.

Analysis: The Connecticut Huskies come in off a tough 38-21 loss to Boise State. The game was close than the final score would indicate, as the Huskies trailed by just 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter and they were outgained by just 4 yards in the contest. UConn was also better on 3rd downs than the Broncos and had 18 FDs to Boise’s 13, but it was really 3 turnovers that did in the Huskies. Chandler Whitmer has not been all that great for the Huskies under center this year as he has complete just 49.3% of his passes for 464 yards with 3 TDs and 2 INTs thus far. Deshon Foxx had a good game vs the Broncos, catching 6 passes for 107 yards and a TD and now has 9 catches for 134 yards on the year. The Huskies come in ranked 118th in total offense (289.3 ypg) and 118th in scoring (16.7 ppg), while on defense they are 55th in yards allowed (369 ypg) and 92nd in points allowed (29.7 ppg)

The South Florida Bulls had a shot at getting off to a good start this year as their first 4 games of the season are all at home, but should they win this one the best they can do is 2-2. Last week they were a short dog to NC State, but were really blown out of the water in the 49-17 loss. The Bulls were pathetic on both sides of the ball, especially on offense where they put up just 159 yards of total offense, hit just 5 of 20 passes for 89 yards, had 3 turnovers and just 8 firstdowns in the game. Bad offense is nothing new for this team as they rank 116th in total offense (300.3 ypg) and 99th in scoring (22.3 ppg). On defense they allowed the Wolfpack to pile up 589 yards of total offense, rush for 315 yards, put up 30 firstdowns and hit 69% of their 3rd downs. For the year now the Bulls rank 103 rd in total defense (453.3 ypg) and 103rd in points allowed (34.7 ppg).

Pick: Gonna go with the Huskies in this one. The Bulls are in for a very long season, especially thanks to a poor offense and that is key here because they put up just 159 yards and 8 FDs last week vs a mediocre NC State defense and now they will be facing a defense that may be a top 20 defense at the end of the year. If there is one thing that UConn HC Bob Diaco knows it is defense and will not give up a whole lot here vs the Bulls. The Huskies offense is weak as well, but they are taking on a Bulls defense that that has not been all that good this year. The offense are rather even in this game, but the Huskies get a HUGE edge on the defensive side of the ball and that is where this game will be won. Look for the Huskies to pull the minor upset in a low scoring game.
