The Clemson Tigers welcome in the N.C. State Wolfpack in college football action on Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored by a decent margin here.
Clemson has dominated this series the last decade, winning nine of the last 10 games overall. The Wolfpack, however, have covered the number in six of the last eight are are hoping to rebound from a loss last week to Florida State, a game they led 24-7 after the opening quarter.
The Tigers got a huge game from true freshman quarterback DeShaun Watson, who broke a school record with six touchdown passes. He's their best option moving forward as the 6-3 youngster can use his legs if he has to, but certainly uses the big arm.
Clemson is coming off two straight 11-2 seasons, something that will be very tough for the Tigers to replicate this season. They're already 2-2 on the season and have a schedule that isn't daunting, but does have some tricky games.
The Wolfpack have a transfer at quarterback in Jacob Brissett, a former Florida player. Brissett threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns against Florida State last week. The experience he's gotten while playing for the Wolfpack is going to make that team pretty solid moving forward. So far this year Brissett has connected for better than 1,300 yards and a 13-to-1 touchdown to interception ratio. Pretty good.
N.C. State is 4-1 on the season but didn't play anybody decent until last week against Florida State. While they still scored 41 points, giving up better than half a hundred isn't ideal.
This is one game that can be close. The Wolfpack might be getting overlooked here but they are a pretty solid team. While they don't have the best defense in college football, the Wolfpack should be able to hold their own in this one. Clemson is probably the better team and they have the better defense for sure, plus the Tigers are at home. Death Valley is a tough place to play, even if it's not at night.
