Ohio State and Michigan take to the field annually in?The Game, a battle between two hated rivals that are playing in arguably the biggest game between the two schools. A win for Michigan would put them in the Big Ten title game against probably Wisconsin, a pair of wins there would both be Top 5 and certainly cement Michigan as a college football playoff team.
Ohio State would probably need some help to get into the playoffs, given they can’t be conference champions if Penn State wins on Saturday.
The Buckeyes have won 11 of 12 in this rivalry and claimed four consecutive victories. They’ve been the dominant force in this battle of two of the best college football programs of all time. Both defenses are very strong and Michigan’s leads the country in six categories, so this one should probably be low-scoring with every possession having an impact.
Each team is battle tested as well, both?Michigan and Ohio State are the only programs to play three of the Top 12 teams in the rankings. Michigan owns three wins over that time, OSU is 2-1 with the loss coming to Penn State. The Wolverines need a signature win and they have an excellent chance to make the college football playoffs with a win. There is some concern at the quarterback position, but Wilton Speight should play here.
Michigan is going to have to run the football and cause J.T. Barrett problems in the passing game. Ohio State struggles to stretch the field vertically as Barrett isn’t a very accurate passer down the field. The Wolverines should be able to use this to their advantage with an exceptional secondary.
