The biggest game of the weekend in college football pits the third-ranked Louisville Cardinals and the fifth-ranked Clemson Tigers. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. The college football odds for the game have the Cardinals favored to pick up the road win.
College Football Odds
Louisville -1.5
Total: 68 points
One of two Top 10 matches on Saturday, the Clemson/Louisville contest could be a major factor in the college football playoff and potential Heisman race as well.
The Cardinals feature Lamar Jackson, who has been amazing to date with better than 1,850 yards of total offense and 25 touchdowns in four games. Not many were sure if Jackson could put up big numbers against a good team, then in the second week of the season he posted five touchdowns. The Florida State defense has been proven to not be nearly as good as they should be, but that doesn’t hurt Louisville’s numbers.
Clemson features Deshaun Watson, who hasn’t had the beginning success this season. Clemson struggled in its first two games of the season at Auburn and at home against Troy, but they enter this contest at 4-0 and looking to pick up a huge win at home. It’s rare to see a Top 5 team getting points in a home game, but Louisville has taken college football by storm and legitimately looks like they could beat anybody.
Both teams are solid, Clemson picked up a 20-17 win last season in Louisville in a game where Jackson played only one series. Now they have to try and slow him down for an entire game.
Death Valley, at night, can be a very intimidating experience. Louisville hasn’t played a tough road game yet with beatdowns at Syracuse and Marshall, how they handle the environment Saturday will determine the outcome.
