The college football odds for the game have the Cornhuskers favored by three touchdowns to pick up the win.
College Football Odds
Total: 53 points
Illinois has not had a good first season with former NFL coach Lovie Smith. The Fighting Illini are 1-2 and scored a combined 33 points in losses to North Carolina and Western Michigan, both of which were at home. The opening game of the season saw the Fighting Illini beat Murray State 52-3, which definitely skew their season averages. The last two games against the Tar Heels and Broncos saw the Fighting Illini get out-scored 82-33.
Nebraska is 4-0 and should move to 5-0 here. The Huskers did lose to Illinois last season, though, 14-13. Wes Lunt found Geronimo Allen in the end zone with 10 seconds left to give the Illini the win. Lunt is still on the team and has done his part to help lead the Fighting Illini with six touchdowns, three of which have gone to Malik Turner, who has 15 catches.
Tommy Armstrong Jr. is back for the Huskers as well, he’s a solid quarterback that also has the legs to tuck and run when he needs to. Armstrong has thrown for eight scores and run for four more.
Illinois just isn’t ready under Lovie to compete in a bigtime game like this. Nebraska looks to be the real deal through four games, even though they struggled a bit last week at Northwestern. Expect a big bounce-back here for the Huskers.
