The BYU Cougars are hosting the Mississippi State Bulldogs in college football action on Friday night. The game is scheduled for a 10:15 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN. BYU is a touchdown favorite here over an SEC opponent, which seems a bit strange given the landscape of college football in recent years. The difference, though, is Mississippi State’s struggles this season. The Bulldogs are 2-3 this season with losses to South Alabama, LSU and Auburn.

Dan Mullen’s group is living in the basement of the SEC West once again and there’s little doubt they will be able to climb out with an incredibly tough stretch to end the season with games against Texas A&M, Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss to end the season in the last month.

BYU loves to run the football and that’s not a good thing for Mississippi State, a team that has been out-gained 405-158 on the ground in their two SEC games. Jamaal Williams is averaging better than six yards per carry and has 10 touchdowns on the season, he piled up 163 yards and two scores last week at Michigan State.

The Cougs are always playing their opponents tough and this is a showcase game for them to knock off an SEC team in primetime on national television.  BYU will be ready to go in this one and they will take down the Bulldogs.
