The Miami Hurricanes are on the road, taking on the Florida Atlantic Owls in college football action on Friday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on FOX Sports 1. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Hurricanes listed as a bigtime favorite to pick up the win.
The Hurricanes travel in-state for this contest and bring their 1-0 record with them. Florida Atlantic had last week’s game won over Tulsa, but eventually lost in overtime. The Owls led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter but stumbled down the stretch in what could have been a nice road win to start the season.
Miami put up 45 points and 379 yards of total offense in a win over Bethune-Cookman. Brad Kaaya tossed for 173 yards and two scores, Mark Walton ran for 85 yards and a score as well for the Hurricanes. The tune-up game against the Wildcats will have them ready to go and they’re the first power conference team to play at Florida Atlantic.
Miami won the only previous matchup between these schools, 34-6 back in 2013. Their defense played well last week, allowing only 79 yards of total offense to the Wildcats. While it’s no surprise the Hurricanes played well defensively, it is shocking to see that was the first time Miami had shut a team out in the Al Golden era.
The defense might not pitch another shutout tonight, but the Hurricanes will cruise to a second straight win.
