College Football Free Pick Indiana Hoosiers vs Bowling Green Falcons

Saturday college football and we will see the Indiana Hoosiers take on the Bowling Green Falcons at Doyt Perry Stadium in Bowling Green, Ohio. The game has a start time of 12:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN U. Current Vegas odds have the Hoosiers listed as 7 point favorites, while the total is set at 74.

Analysis:  The Indiana Hoosiers have not had a winning season since 2007, which was the last time they went to a bowl game as well. This year there are 17 starters back and it will be Kevin Wilson’s best team year at Indiana. The Hoosiers had a week off after opening their season at home with a 28-10 over Indiana State. Despite winning the game by just 18 points, Indiana outgained ISU by 396 yards in the game. In the game the Hoosiers rolled up 566 yards of total offense, including 455 yards on the ground. Leading the ground attack was Tevin Coleman, who ran for 247 yards on just 23 carries, and D’Angelo Roberts, who had 124 yards on 24 carries. The two also combined for 3 of the teams 4 TDs in the game. The offense will not be the problem for this team, but rather can they stop anyone and they did do that in game 1, allowing just 170 yards of total offense.

After opening their season with a 28 point loss at Western Kentucky, The Bowling green Falcons bounced back last week with a 41 point win over VMI. The Falcons had a very balanced attack in the game as they ran for 260 yards, while throwing for 266 yards. QB James Knapke is now the starting QB after Matt Johnson was lost for the year and he had a very nice game hitting 22 of 31 passes for 237 yards with a TD and a pick. Leading the ground attack was Travis Greene, who ran for 129 yards and 2 TDs in the game. Travis leads the team in rushing with 220 yards, while Roger Lewis leads the team in receiving yards with 218. The Falcons are 36 th in the nation in total offense (496 ypg) and 33 rd in scoring (39.5 ppg), while on the other side of the ball they are 122nd in total defense (563 ypg) and 99th in scoring defense (33 ppg).

Pick: Boy I can really see this game being a shootout. Both offense are up tempo and will score plenty of points this year, while both defenses will struggle. Indiana’s defense is better than last years version, but they have only played Indiana State thus far. I still expect this defense to struggle this year. Bowling Green allowed 59 points to WKU in their opener and will have problems trying to stop this Indiana offense that just may be the best offense in the Big 10. I look for 75+ points here.
