The Florida State Seminoles are hosting the Florida Gators in college football action on Saturday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Florida is already secured a spot in the SEC?title game against Alabama next week. Having to play the Seminoles just seven days prior to that will be a daunting task and the Gators are going to want to keep this one low scoring. Offensively the Gators are a mess this season, the 25 points per game is just 92nd in the country.
But the offense isn’t a problem when opponents can’t score any points. The 31 given up to Arkansas a few weeks back is the second-most points yielded by the Gators all season — a healthy Tennessee scored 38 on them early. Outside of that, Florida has kept everyone in check including given up just 47 combined points in wins over Vandy, Missouri, South Carolina and LSU. The Seminoles are one of the better teams on Florida’s schedule, they’ve played well and outside of a 2-point loss to North?Carolina and a 3-point loss to Clemson, they’ve only been outplayed by Louisville all season.
A couple of wins for Florida State in those two games would probably have them sitting where the Tigers are and in a position to play in the college football playoffs. The Seminoles can’t make the ACC title game, but they can still play in a marquee bowl with nine victories. Jimbo Fisher might not be there very much longer, but they will play well in this game for their coach no matter what happens. Fisher seems to always get the best out of his team and being at home is an added advantage for them, especially at night.
Dalvin Cook is going to be the best player on the field, Florida State will look to get him the football quite a bit in this one as their offense will be good enough against the Gators.
