Both teams have gotten out to a 2-3 start to the season with the Owls getting drilled the opening two weeks of the season by Nebraska and Alabama. The Owls had won five in a row in the series but the Golden Panthers picked up wins in 2011 and 2012. Last year the Owls picked up a 21-6 win in this contest as the Golden Panthers went just 1-11 on the year. That only win came by a single point over Southern Miss.
Florida International has had the Owls' number recently, but Florida Atlantic is the better football team. If the Golden Panthers win the turnover battle they're going to have a chance to win the game. They rank among the best in college football, sitting at +10 in the turnover differential this season.
