Total: 51 points
Houston continues its run toward a potential college football playoff berth this season. The Cougars are still ranked sixth and they are coming off a win at Texas State where they posted 64 points and nearly had a shutout of the Bobcats.
Houston now averages nearly 45 points per game this season, led by Greg Ward Jr. and an offense that has 13 touchdowns on the ground through those four games.
Connecticut isn’t great, the Huskies are coming off a loss against Syracuse and the team’s only two wins on the season came over Maine and Virginia by a combined six points. The Huskies have a big-play threat in Noel Thomas, but he’s really the only threat they have on offense. Thomas has 40 catches on the season already and he’s averaging almost 10 yards per catch, but there’s only been one touchdown.
Thomas is the only player on Connecticut that has more than nine catches.
With Les Miles being fired at LSU, there’s been speculation that Tom Herman could be at the top of the Tigers’ list, which would surprise no one. He cannot allow that to cause any type of distraction, especially given that Connecticut knocked off the Cougars last year in a 20-17 game.
That loss was the only one on Houston’s resume last season. This year the stakes are considerably higher.
