College Football Betting Odds Wisconsin Badgers at Iowa Hawkeyes

Wisconsin Badgers vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights Complete Game Preview

The 16th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers hit the road in college football action on Saturday when they play the Iowa Hawkeyes. Currently the College Football Betting Odds for the game have Wisconsin favored by double digits on the road.

This battle for the Heartland Trophy should be a good one. It will be the 88th meeting between the two schools with Wisconsin holding a 43-42-2 all-time series lead. The Badgers have won the last two meetings as well, both of which were in Iowa City. This will be the third straight matchup between the schools with Iowa hosting the game.

Iowa comes into the contest unranked while the badgers are 16th and 8-2. Wisconsin has dominated everyone at Camp Randall this season but is only 2-1 on the road. Iowa owns a 4-1 record at their own building and the Hawkeyes are looking to rebound as well. Last week Iowa beat Illinois but the Hawkeyes were humbled the week prior by Minnesota, losing 51-14 to the Gophers in a game they actually led early on.

Offensively Iowa isn't a team that is going to wow a lot of people, averaging just 28 points per game. Running back Mar Weisman is a bruiser that has 14 touchdowns on the season. The Hawkeyes have been OK through the air as well, with Jake Rudock tossing for better than 1,800 yards. Iowa is probably going to have to throw the football effectively in this game in order to consistently move the football. They rushed for a season-high 304 yards last week.

Melvin Gordon broke Ladanian Tomlinson's all-time NCAA rushing record for a single game last week over Nebraska, posting 408 yards against the Cornhuskers. Iowa will certainly be looking to stop him, or at least slow him down. Forcing Wisconsin to throw the football could bring the Hawkeyes success in this one.

Iowa owns a 6-4 record in this series the last 10 games. While the Hawkeyes are a good football team at home, Wisconsin is a better football team overall. This is going to be one of those old-school physical matchups, though, and Iowa is going to keep it close.
