College football week 12 and the Northwestern Wildcats will travel to South Bend, Indiana to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The game has a start time of 3:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on NBC. Current Vegas odds have the Irish listed as 18 point favorites, while the total is set at 52.5.  

Analysis:  The Northwestern Wildcats have not had the year they were looking for, as they come into this game with a 3-6 record overall, including a 1-2 record on the road. The Cats need to win this game and the last last 2 vs Purdue and Illinois to become Bowl eligible. They will in all likelihood be sitting home during Bowl season. Northwestern is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game, but also 3-12 ATS vs. a team with a winning record. Northwestern is not a good offensive team, as they come in ranked 117th in total yards, 84th in passing, 114th in rushing and 122nd in scoring (18 ppg). On defense they have been solid, ranking 50th in yards allowed, 44th vs the pass, 71st vs the run and 31st in points allowed (22.3 ppg). 

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come in off a horrible 55-31 loss to Arizona State that has knocked them out of the race for a playoff spot. For the year the Irish are 7-2 overall and a perfect 5-0 at home. Notre Dame is just 3-7-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game. The Irish have been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 31st in total yards, 16th in passing, 76th in rushing and 29th in scoring (34.9 pg). The defense has really struggled of late and for the year they rank 44th in yards allowed, 62nd vs the pass, 41st vs the run and 57th in points allowed (25.3 ppg). 

Pick: I like the Over in this game. The Northwestern offense is not very good at all but they should be able to get into the 20s vs this Irish defense that has been shredded the last 4 games, allowed 42 ppg over that stretch. This defense is bad right now and that is coming from an Irish fan. The Notre Dame offense has been very good this year as they come in averaging 34.9 ppg overall and 35.2 ppg at home. Even better is the fact that Notre Dame has averaged 39.3 ppg in their last 4 games, while Northwestern has allowed 32 ppg in their last 3 games. This one should hit the mid-50s rather easily.
