Tuesday night college football and the Massachusetts Minutemen will travel to Akron, Ohio to take on the Akron Zips. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN3. Current Vegas odds have the Zips listed as 7.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 45.  

Analysis:  The UMass Minutemen started the year at 0-6, but have since won 3 of their last 4 games to put their record at 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the MAC. Still the 3 wins are a two game improvement over last year in which they went 1-11. The Minutemen are 6-0 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games on fieldturf. UMass has been a decent offense that ranks 39th in total yards, 6th in pass, 117th in rushing and 61st in scoring (30.1 ppg). The defense has been bad this year as they come in ranked 97th in yards allowed, 101st vs the pass, 92nd vs the run and 102nd in points allowed (32.5 ppg).

The Akron Zips come in reeling as they have lost 4 in a row, including last weeks 55-24 loss at the hands of Buffalo. The Zips are now just 4-6 on the year, which includes a 2-4 record in the MAC. The Zips are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game, but also 0-6 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games on fieldturf. The offense for the Zips has been bad this year, ranking 94th in total offense, 46th in passing, 112th in rushing and 107th in scoring (21.7 ppg). The defense has been decent this year, ranking 51st in yards allowed, 58th vs the pass, 60th vs the run and 50th in points allowed (24.4 ppg).

Pick: Yes bad weather is expected, but I still like the Over in this game.  I know that the Akron offense has been pathetic of late, but they will be taking on a UMass defense that has been just horrible this year, especially on the road where they have allowed 36.6 ppg on the year. The Akron defense is the strength of this team, but they come in allowing 35 ppg in their last 4 games and this UMass offense has been god this year, putting up 30.8 ppg on the road and have averaged 36.3 ppg in their last 6 games. Both defense have been bad of late and even in bad conditions I see the offenses having a good shot at putting up plenty of points. I see this one squeaking just over 50 points.
