The Miami Hurricanes welcome in the Arkansas State Red Wolves in college football action Saturday. The game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPNu. Currently the odds for the game have the Hurricanes favored by a couple of touchdowns in this one.
Miami dropped their opening game of the season when Louisville knocked them out in their ACC tilt. The Hurricanes were able to respond well on a short week, however, beating the Florida A&M Rattlers 41-7. Miami should have better athletes on the field compared to Arkansas State and that might be a huge part of this game here. The Hurricanes have a night game at Nebraska next week, so there is the option for them to be a bit distracted, but Al Golden should have his boys ready to go in this one. Miami needs to get a win here to have some confidence going their way heading into Lincoln next week.
The Canes are starting a freshman quarterback Brad Kaaya, who should eventually be a good one. But like most freshman he's going through some growing pains and progressing slowly. Not turning the football over will be key to his growth and the Hurricanes need to avoid turnovers in this game against Arkansas State. So far this season the Hurricanes sit at -2 in the turnover differential while Arkansas State is even.
Don't expect the Red Wolves to be overwhelmed in this game as the Arkansas State program is one that has no problem playing bigger schools on the road. While they might not be as good as they have been in year's past, this team will still battle tough. They dropped their last game at Tennessee and playing a Miami team in back-to-back weeks won't be easy.
But the Red Wolves should be able to keep this one close. The line opened below three touchdowns and has still come down a bit. Look for the Red Wolves to compete in this one and play well.
