The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are playing the 20th-ranked USC Trojans in college football action Saturday night. The game is scheduled for an 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ABC. Currently the college football odds for the game have the Crimson Tide favored to win by double digits.

The biggest game of the college football schedule today features a Nick Saban-led team that is once again breaking in a new quarterback. Most believe that won’t be a problem as the Crimson Tide are loaded once again with talent everywhere else on the field.

USC has a ton of talent all over the field as well, but whether or not they can compete on a big stage against one of the best teams in the country remains to be seen.  Max Browne is the new signal caller for the Trojans, he’s making his first college start in this one.

Alabama’s defense should once again be a strong point for the team. Since 1999 the defending national champion is 17-0 with a win margin of almost 30 points in the season opener. Those numbers alone make Alabama look like an affordable option in laying double digits, even against a big school.

This will be the fifth straight year Alabama is playing on a neutral field to open the season. They won the first four by an average of almost three touchdowns.

USC is going to need big games from JuJu Smith-Schuster at receiver and Justin Davis at tailback. Alabama’s defense is probably the best in the country and they have a lot of size, which could cause the USC offensive line some problems and disrupt timing.

There’s every reason to take Alabama here, but a guy like Adoree’ Jackson in special teams could be the difference between a blowout and USC having a chance.
