NCAA basketball on Wednesday night and we will see the Tennessee Volunteers travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to take on the NC State Wolfpack. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Vegas odds have the Wolfpack listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 133.

Analysis: The Tennessee Volunteers come in with a mediocre 4-3 record on the young season, but they are off their most impressive win of the year, a 67-55 win over number 19 Butler. This will be Tennessee's first true road game. The Volunteers are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 1-5-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games. Tennessee has not been a good offensive team this year, ranking 226th in scoring (65.9 ppg), 152nd in shooting (44.1%), 332nd in 3 point shooting (26.9%) and 294th in FT shooting (63.9%). Defensively they are slightly below average, Ranking 191st in points allowed (66.9 ppg), 159th in defensive FG% (41.8%) and 301st in 3 point defense (37.5%). 

The NC State Wolfpack come in with a very nice 8-2 record on the year, but they are off a shocking 55-54 home loss to the Wofford Terriers. That loss dropped them to 8-1 at home for the year. The Wolfpack are 10-0-1 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games and 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS loss, but just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games. NC State has been a decent offensive team, ranking 77th in scoring (73.9 ppg), 109th in shooting (45.3%), 135th in 3 point shooting (35.5%) and 190th in FT shooting (67.8%). The defense for the Wolfpack has been excellent as they come in ranked 47th in points allowed (59.2 ppg), 10th in defensive FG% (35.4%), and 41st in 3 point defense (28.7%). 

Pick: Both teams play a rather slow brand of ball and the Wolfpack is an excellent defensive squad, so I will look to the Under in this one. NC State has averaged 73.9 pgg, but the Vols defense isn't all that bad, allowing just 66.9 ppg on the year. Tennessee is not a good offensive team as they put up just 65.9 ppg, while the Wolfpack have allowed just 59.2 ppg. Both teams are poor from the charity stripe and neither team is good from long range. I see this one staying in the 120s.
