College Basketball Saturday Washington Huskies at Washington State Cougars: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

College Basketball on Saturday and we will see the Washington Huskies travel to Pullman to take on the Washington State Cougars. The game is scheduled for a 9:30 pm (Eastern) start time and will be televised on ESPN U. Currently the odds for the game have Washington State favored by 4 points while the total sits at 129.  Check out Sportsbook Spy to see who the Public is taking on all of today's games.

Free Analysis: For just the eighth time in the last 40 years Washington and Washington State open conference play against each other when they meet Saturday night at Washington State.

The defending Pac-12 champion Huskies are coming off their worst performance of the season in a 61-53 loss Saturday at Connecticut. Washington shot 29.7 percent from the field, its lowest percentage in four years. C.J. Wilcox, the Huskies’ leading scorer at 18.5, scored five points on 2-for-12 shooting, and 7-foot senior Aziz N’Diaye, who nearly averages a double-double, went scoreless in 14 minutes with three rebounds. Wilcox might need to match Motum point for point if the Huskies hope to escape Pullman with a victory. Before his off night against Connecticut, Wilcox had scored at least 21 points in seven of the previous eight games. Wilcox has struggled to score on the road this season, however, averaging just 11.5 points in four games. Scott Suggs, a 6-6 senior guard for Washington, is averaging a team-high 16.3 points on the road. When Wilcox gets to the free-throw line at least twice in a game this season, the Huskies are 6-1.

Meanwhile, Washington State extended its winning streak to four games with a 74-39 route of Idaho State last Saturday. The Cougars have really been heating up recently with wins in seven of their last eight games. The Cougars have also benefited from a home-heavy schedule early on as they are 7-1 in Pullman already. Next up for Washington State are road tests against Stanford and California. The Cougars feature one of the premier scorers in the nation, 6-10 senior forward Brock Motum, who’s averaging 19.7 points, second-most in the conference.  Motum has scored in double figures in 28 consecutive regular-season games.  The Cougars will need others to step up if they hope to finish high in conference play. DaVonte Lacy, a 6-3 sophomore guard, is averaging 14.5 points in the five games since returning from a knee injury, shooting 14-for-32 from 3-point range. Mike Ladd, Dexter Kernich-Drew and Royce Woolridge have each scored at least 16 points in a game this season but have been wildly inconsistent.

Free Pick: I like the Under in this one. Washington would like more of an uptempo game but this game is at Pullman and I dont expect the Cougars to let this one be a fast paced game. The Cougars like to play in the low 60's or 50's as evidenced by the fact that their home games have averaged just 120.8 ppg overall, including 114.8 ppg in their last 5 games. The Cougars are an excellent defensive team that has allowed just 55.2 ppg on 37.3% shooting overall, including just 52.4 ppg on 36% shooting at home. Te Huskies have allowed 67.5 ppg overall, but they are getting better as they have allowed just 64.2 ppg on 40.2% shooting in their last 5 games. I do not expect an uptempo game in this. Both teams have been playing very good defense and with the slower pace that should kee the score in the low 120's at best.
