College Basketball Saturday Kentucky Wildcats vs Louisville Cardinals Free Pick, Odds

NCAA basketball on Saturday afternoon and we will see the Kentucky Wildcats travel to the KFC Yum! Center to take on the Louisville Cardinals. The game has a start time of 2:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN 2. Vegas odds have the Wildcats listed as 6 point favorites, while the total sits at 127.

Analysis: The Kentucky Wildcats come in as the the top ranked team in the nation. they currently are 12-0 on te year and this will be their first true road game of the season. Kentucky is 2-5-1 ATS in their last 18 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 road games, but just 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 vs. Atlantic Coast. The Cats have been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 37th in scoring (76.8 ppg), 49th in shooting (47.5%), 252nd in 3 point shooting (31.4%) and 253rd in FT shooting (65.9%). On defense they are one of the best in the nation, ranking 2nd in points allowed (47.7 ppg), 1st in defensive FG% (30%) and 11th in 3 point defense (27%).

The Louisville Cardinals come in ranked 4th in the nation with an 11-0 mark that includes an 8-0 record at home. The Cardinals are 1-5-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win and 1-5-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games, while the Under is 13-4 in the last 17 meetings between these teams. Louisville has been a solid offensive squad this year, ranking 34th in scoring (77.3 ppg), 150th in shooting (44.1%), 312th in 3 point shooting (29.0%) and 292nd in FT shooting (64.1%). The defense for the Cardinals has been excellent as they come in ranked 8th in points allowed (54.4 ppg), 7th in defensive FG% (34.3%) and 18th in 3 point defense (27.7%).

Pick:  Both teams play excellent defense and that has me looking at the Under in this one. It is also a big game for both teams and those tend to be lower scoring, especially late in the game. The Wildcats bring the nation's 2nd leading scoring defense into this game, while the Cardinals bring in the nations 8th ranked scoring defense to this one and they have allowed just 48.6 ppg at home. Both teams are very poor from long range and the charity stripe so not allot of extra points there. The Under is 13-4 the  last 17 in the series and I see that continuing here.
