The Purdue Boilermakers are taking on the Vermont Catamounts in NCAA Tournament action on Thursday. The game is scheduled for a 7:27 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on truTV. The college basketball odds for the game have the Boilermakers favored to pick up the win.

Purdue has one of the best players in the country in Caleb Swanigan. He’s a double-double machine that could do some big things in the tournament for a Boilermaker team that can play well on both ends of the floor and really put up some points.

Vermont could be a scary team, though. The Catamounts are one of the hottest teams in the country right now, piecing together 21 consecutive wins while dominating the conference. This group hasn’t lost in the 2017 calendar year and they are a gritty bunch that could put a scare into the Boilermakers.

The last time Vermont was a 13 seed in the tournament, in 2005, they upset No. 4 Syracuse. This year’s team has three guys in double figure scoring per game but they are not a good rebounding team. Purdue is a good rebounding team, plus they have Swanigan to eat up everything on the interior. 

Carsen Edwards could be a difference maker, too. The youngster has really played well at times this season, including the Big Ten tournament, though they lost to eventual champion Michigan.
