The Indiana Hoosiers are hosting the Purdue Boilermakers in college basketball action on Thursday. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. The college basketball odds for the game have the Boilermakers favored to pick up the victory on the road.
College Basketball Odds
Purdue -3.5
Total: 155.5 points
This feels like a must-win situation for Indiana. The Hoosiers have been treading water with multiple starters out and come into this one having lost three of the last four games overall, the one win came at home in multiple overtimes over Penn State.
Tom Crean’s team could have been excellent this year. They were ranked third earlier in the season but have since dropped to the depths of an NCAA Tournament bubble team.
Purdue is not a bubble team, they have one of the best resumes of any team in the Big Ten and have put together two consecutive wins over Northwestern and Maryland, another pair of NCAA Tournament teams for this season.
The Boilermakers and Maryland are in second place behind Wisconsin in the conference standings, a couple of games away from the Badgers. Purdue is real strong inside with Caleb Swanigan and Isaac Haas. Indiana big man Thomas Bryant is strong and can often by a highlight machine, but he is going to need to get some help against the Purdue front line.
Indiana at home this season is 13-2 with losses to Nebraska (bad) and conference-leader Wisconsin. Their issues have not been at Assembly Hall, but Purdue is going to be able to beat them up from a physical point and dominate the paint.
