Michigan is located firmly on the bubble for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines have a decent resume with six Top 100 RPI wins, but they have to start stockpiling more of those in order to feel secure about a potential spot. Currently they hold down the eighth spot in the Big Ten standings, a win here would put them back at 5-5 as they look to the second half of the conference slate.
Ohio State has had a forgettable season, the Buckeyes are just 13-10 overall and 3-7 in Big Ten play. Thad Matta's team has battle inconsistencies all season but they do have a pair of strong wins at home over Minnesota and Michigan State. A big problem for them has been the road contests, where they have won just twice — once at Nebraska and the other at Navy.
The Wolverines are a tough team to beat at home, only Virginia Tech and Maryland have won as road teams in Ann Arbor. Michigan has a pair of veteran senior guards in Derrick Walton Jr. and Zak Irvin, both have to play well here for the Wolverines, who are coming off a tough road loss at arch-rival Michigan State last Sunday. A touch sandwich game, Michigan hosts the Spartans on Tuesday night as well and can't get caught looking ahead here.
This is the type of game Michigan thrives in and if they are focused, they can beat up the Buckeyes with the perimeter game. D.J. Wilson has also really emerged as a star for the Wolverines.
