Tonight the Wyoming Cowboys will take on the Boise State Broncos in the Semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas Nevada. The game has a start time of 9:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBSSN. Current Vegas betting odds have the Broncos listed as 4.5 point favorites, while the total is set at 117.5.
Analysis: The Wyoming Cowboys limped a bit down the stretch of the regular season as they had won just 3 of their final 8 games, but they put that behind them by beating Utah State in the quarterfinals yesterday by a score of 67-65. The Cowboys are have a solid year overall as they 23-8 on the year. The Cowboys have gone 7-3 ATS the last 10 in the series, but just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win. The Cowboys have not been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 307th in scoring (61.9 ppg), 52nd in shooting (46.5%), 279th in 3 point shooting (31.9%) and 128th in FT shooting (70.3%). Defensively the Cowboys have been excellent this year, ranking 9th in points allowed (56.1 ppg), 68th in defensive FG% (40.4%) and 198th in 3 point defense (34.5%).
Broncos come in off a solid 80-68 win over Air Force Yesterday. The Broncos have now won 15 of their last 16 games and are 25-7 overall, while going 15-4 vs MWC competition this year. Boise has gone 14-2 ATS in their last 16 games overall and 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games following a S.U. win. The Broncos have been a solid offensive team this year, ranking 87th in scoring (70.9 ppg), 66th in shooting (46.0%), 16th in 3 point shooting (39.5%) and 47th in FT shooting (73.0%). Defensively the Broncos have been very good as well, ranking 26th in points allowed (59.9 ppg),95th in defensive FG% (41.3%) and 29th in 3 point defense (30.6%).
Pick: I will go with the Over here. Wyoming does play low scoring games, but the Over is 21-8-1 in their last 30 games and the earlier meeting between these teams put up 119 points. Wyoming is not a good offensive team, but it is a bit better with Larry Nance Jr back on the court and they should get their fair share of points in what could be a faster paced game. The Broncos have been a good offensive team this year and Wyoming has struggled some on defense on the road of late, allowing 62.6 ppg in their last 6 away from home. Boise scored 80 vs Air Force yesterday and they have scored 71.5 ppg in their last 6 games overall, so we know their offense will get some points. I can really see this one played in the mid-120s
